Blackball Rules

🎱 BATPL Doubles – Description

The BATPL Doubles Championship gives registered BATPL players the opportunity to team up and compete together for the doubles title.

Players are free to choose a partner from any team within BATPL, meaning teammates can join forces or regular league opponents can put their rivalries aside and form a partnership.

Pairs will battle their way through the competition with one goal — becoming the BATPL Doubles Champions.

Entry Criteria

🎱 BATPL Doubles – Entry Criteria

  • Open exclusively to registered BATPL players.
  • Both players must be registered with a BATPL team for the current season.
  • Doubles partners do not have to play for the same BATPL team.
  • Each player may only be registered in one doubles partnership.
  • Partnerships must be confirmed when entering the competition.
  • Entries must be submitted before the published registration deadline.
  • Players are responsible for ensuring they are available to complete matches within the published round deadlines.
  • All players must comply with the rules and requirements of the host venue.

Rules

🎱 BATPL Doubles – Competition Rules

  • Format: Straight knockout competition.
  • Partnerships: Both registered players form a doubles pairing for the duration of the competition. Partners cannot be changed once the competition has started.
  • Fixtures: Doubles pairs are responsible for contacting their opponents and arranging their fixture.
  • Round Deadlines: All matches must be completed before the published deadline for each round.
  • Home Pair: The pair drawn at home is responsible for arranging the fixture and contacting the venue to arrange availability of the pool table.
  • Venue: Matches should be played at a BATPL registered venue, unless otherwise agreed by BATPL.
  • Match Arrangement: Both pairs must make reasonable efforts to agree a suitable date and time. Any problems arranging the fixture must be reported to BATPL before the round deadline.
  • Order of Play: Players within each pair must alternate visits in accordance with the doubles format being used by BATPL.
  • Game Rules: Matches will be played under Blackball Rules.
  • Coaching: Players must comply with Blackball rules regarding communication and coaching during play.
  • Results: The winning pair is responsible for updating and submitting the result via the Rack 'Em app.
  • Failure to Play: If a fixture is not completed by the deadline, BATPL will decide which pair progresses based on the circumstances and the efforts made by both pairs to arrange the match.
  • Disputes: Any issue during a match should be resolved before play continues where possible. Unresolved disputes should be referred to BATPL.
  • Final Decision: BATPL's decision regarding competition administration, eligibility, missed deadlines and disputes is final.
